In this segment of the book, Andrew arrives at Lusitania. He is stunned to see no support at all for the good he has done. Lusitania, being a catholic colony, doesn't take kindly to Andrew, having started his own religion. Without support, Andrew is struggling to find Nohvina, the person who he came to originally see. He is walking around the town square to see a few children playing a game with a soccer ball. Card really puts an emphasis on the boy's eye. This eye of his is metallic and is a computer in itself. Jane runs a search on him and finds that he, ironicly, is the son of Nohvina, so, being a young, oblivious boy, he leads Andrew to her.

Speaker for the Dead
pg. 296-349
Ender, now departed for Lusitania is now, on his journey, feeling the pain of loosing his sister, who has long since gotten over the pain. Her new daughter, Styfe, though not known to Ender, has taken a deep obsession to him. This was probably mirrored by Ender's former student Plikt, who also obsesses over writing her book about who Ender and Valentine really are. Valentine's three children, now full adults, are the only ones who are told the true stories of Valentine and Ender, of particular interest to Plikt, who takes Styfe under her wing. It is later mentioned that Ender, on his "short" journey, has fallen in love with Novhina. He says, "he loved her, as you can onlu love someone who is an echo of yourself at your time of deepest sorrow. He then goes to wonder what they 40 years (to him only a few days), has done to her desperate situation. He yearns to see her with a burning passion.

Speaker for the Dead
On pages 242-295, Andrew prepares to embark on his journey to Lusitania, many, many light years away. Jane, the intelligent life that lives in the network between the colonies prepared a ship for him to travel in (a ship that costs $40 billion dollars, a scratch in Andrews’s wallet). On a side note, throughout Andrews’s life he has been travelling among the stars at near light speed, which slows down the human aging clock for some reason, so much so that ender has been alive for more than 3000 years, but he feels he has only been alive for some 35 years. Andrew’s sister, Valentine, has been traveling with him among the stars as a second Speaker for the Dead, making them both very famous. Valentine is married with kids now, and Andrew doesn’t feel he needs to make them move again. This means that by the time Andrew gets to Lusitania, Valentine and her husband will have probably been dead for a long time, whereas Andrew will have only felt a week’s worth of travel time. Ender is going to have to let go of his Sister, his guardian and mentor, in order to achieve something of significant importance to him. So, like he always does, he packs only his cloths and a few keepsakes into his bags for his short journey that seems like a lifetime to the rest.

Speaker For the Dead
On pages 200-241, Jane, a character that lives through the network of computers throughout the hundred worlds who reveals itself only to Andrew, tells him to go to Lusitania to investigate the death of Pipo. Ender looks at a picture of Novinha, who sent out the call, to see such sadness and years of built up pain in her face. Ender, I think, has an immediate connection with her. He, back in his childhood, was put through the pains and stresses of constant alertness and constant usage of his brain, with little time to sleep. He was worn down to the point where he fell asleep during one of the most important live simulations of his life. Novihna is feeling the same thing. Her parents dead, she has had to deal with empty sorrows from people. She knows she didn't really have anyone to talk to before she had Libo there. Ender sympathizes, and heads to Lusitania.

After Nohvina decides to start a relationship with Libo, she is faced with a decision. The files that she saved held something that caused Pipo to get killed. She is afraid that Libo will access the files and discover the same secret that Pipo found and cause himself to get killed. Nohvina then places every security encryption possible on the files. This works until Nohvina decides she would agree to marry him. In that society, two people in married relationship are, in law matters, the same person. This means that if they were to get married, Libo could easily access the files. Nohvina now must choose between loving him and letting him die, or letting him go and keeping the secret safe.

After the main character’s father, Pipo, is killed by the “piggies”, Pipo’s son Libo is found to be in a vulnerable state. We find this after the news of Pipo’s death spreads and the worlds sent empty sorrows to Libo. Libo knows that Nohvina, as a child, had both her parents killed by a virus that spread across the planet. Her parents were the ones to find a cure for the virus, but were too late in finding it to save themselves. Nohvina, with the guilt of thinking she caused Pipo’s death, is sharing sorrow and despair for the death. Libo retreats to the science station, the place where Nohvina, Libo, and Pipo worked together, to find Nohvina trying to decipher what kind of secret that led Pipo into a death trap. Libo, having long had feelings for Nohvina, senses her despair and lays down with her, where they both fall into a much needed sleep.

In the Sci-fi book, Speaker for the Dead, one of the main character's father is killed by aliens that inhabit this planet after finding out a secret in the origins of their colony. These aliens are known to sacrifice other animals of their same species before, but never before on a human. This casts the galactic community (however nerdy it may sound) into a vengeful state, yet no actions are taken against the "piggies", the aliens. Nohvina, a girl of only 18 originally discovered this secret, and feels as though his killing was her responsibility, even though, in many perspectives, it wasn't. I feel that a lot of things that don't relate to me are my fault. I find that the only thing I can really do is learn to forgive myself. Forgiving myself is one of the hardest thing I know I can do. Like Nohvina, there is always still the itching fear that it was my fault.
